We’ve only got one game on the docket tonight in the NHL, and lucky for us, it’s a Game Seven. Minnesota will visit Vegas for the right to move on to the West Division final where the juggernaut Avalanche await. If the Wild can steal the deciding game, they’ll have ripped off three wins in a row to climb out of a three-to-one hole.
After sweeping Wednesday’s best bets and improving to 9-2-1 on the year, we’re looking to stay hot and close out the opening round of the playoffs on a high note. Here’s my best bet for tonight’s Game Seven in Las Vegas.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Minnesota Wild: Game Seven (Series Tied 3-3)
As I mentioned above, the Golden Knights are on the verge of blowing a three-to-one series lead. The pressure is squarely on their shoulders after they were touted as one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup. Minnesota, on the other hand, is playing with house money, and they’ve played Vegas tough all year (8-5-1 record including the playoffs). Look for them to be the much looser team out of the gate despite being on the road.
On Wednesday, I liked the Wild to even this series at three. In that handicap, I mentioned how out of sync the Golden Knights have looked throughout the playoffs. I also discussed how even this series has been played despite Vegas capturing wins in three of the first four games. Those statements remain true heading into tonight’s matchup. Plus, shaking off two straight losses that forced a winner-take-all Game Seven isn’t easy, and I expect the Wild to come out pressure the Knights early.
Based on how close of a series this has been, both on the scoreboard and in terms of underlying metrics, the price on the Wild is way too good to pass on. Getting a team that has ripped off consecutive wins to force a Game Seven at +145 is a gift, and one I’ll be taking advantage of.
Just how close has this series actually been? Vegas owns 52% of the expected goals in the series, the scoring chances are split 50/50, and Minnesota has racked up 53% of the high-danger chances. It doesn’t get much closer than that, especially in the first round. The raucous Vegas crowd does make me a bit tentative, but the Wild dealt with a crowd of this size in Game Five, and they had no trouble with securing a 4-2 victory. I’ll roll the dice with the underdog at a great price here.
