Top NBA Betting Picks for Saturday, May 8

We have another exciting night of action as teams attempt to lock in playoff or play-in positioning. Some teams are trying to persevere through injury-related adversity, while others are simply resting their ‘injured’ stars to improve their draft lottery positioning. We will have multiple matchups featuring teams on opposite ends of the spectrum tonight, something that should lead to a good night for Vegas. We will attempt to steer your clear of some potential pitfalls.

Here are the top NBA betting plays for Saturday, May 7, provided by BettingPros experts Raju Byfield and Isaiah Sirois (Main game odds courtesy BettingPros Consensus; lock and prop odds sites may vary):

Betting Lock of the Day

Byfield: 76ers -9.5 (-110 at FD Sportsbook)
The Philadelphia 76ers should have an easy time dispatching the Detroit Pistons tonight. The season series is tied 1-1, but that is only due to Joel Embiid missing the second game of the series. The Pistons are already eliminated from any play-in scenarios but are expected to dress Jerami Grant tonight, making this wager just a one-unit play. The spread is large enough to exercise caution, especially if the 76ers rest some starters down the stretch. Backdoor covers notwithstanding, the 76ers should, by all accounts, be leading by double digits for extended portions of this contest. Tap the 76ers to cover.

Top Game Prop of the Day

Byfield: Nuggets 1st Quarter Over 28.5 Points (-130 at FD Sportsbook)
The Denver Nuggets benefit from a highly appealing 1st quarter line due to a low game total and being pegged as the underdogs for a contest against the Nets. Brooklyn has allowed 29.5 first quarter points per game this season, the seventh-highest mark in the league. The Denver Nuggets lead the NBA with 31 first quarter points per game. Denver dropped 36 first quarter points on the Nets back in January and should hit at least 30 tonight. The juice should continue to rise, so lock this in when possible to avoid an even higher number.

Top Player Prop of the Day

Byfield: Pascal Siakam Under 26.5 Points (-116 at FD Sportsbook)
Pascal SIakam has continued to be woefully inconsistent this season, and after a 44 point explosion, the smart money is on Siakam, crashing back to earth. He is going to get all of the volume he can handle, but with most of the starting lineup watching from the sidelines, there will be extreme defensive attention on the Raptors only credible threat. The total has been set high fur to the injured and rested players for the Raptors, as well as Siakam’s monster game. This line should be closer to 24.5 based on what we have seen from Pascal this season. Take the probability and the under.
