Betting Lock of the Day

Byfield: Clippers -4.5 (-110 at FD Sportsbook)
This line has been set where it is due to Kawhi Leonard being questionable for tonight’s contest. However, head coach Tyron Lue sounded optimistic about the chances of his superstar taking the court, so he should be considered probable. Waiting for confirmation is the ideal path here but it should be noted that the line will likely quickly move due to sharp action when that happens. The suggestion here is to keep to one unit on the Clippers to cover the spread against a depleted Denver Nuggets team that will be without star Jamal Murray as well as Will Barton, Monte Morris, and Zeke Nnaji. This contest could truly go either way with Kawhi sidelined, but if he is active it should be a smooth cover for the home team.

Top Game Prop of the Day

Byfield: Warriors 1st Quarter Over 30.5 Points (-120 at FD Sportsbook)
The Golden State Warriors are set to have an explosive first quarter against a Houston Rockets team surrendering an embarrassing 30.5 points per game in the opening quarter (the fourth-worst mark in the league). Golden State is already an extremely potent team when they are clicking and play at a high enough pace (with poor enough defense) to ensure both sides hoist up enough shots to hit their respective numbers. The Warriors have averaged 28 first quarter points per game on the season, which while middle of the pack in the NBA is more than enough to safely project the over against a team like the Rockets.

Top Player Prop of the Day

Byfield: Michael Porter Jr. Over 22.5 Points (-120 at FD Sportsbook)
Michael Porter Jr. has caught fire with Jamal Murray sidelined and is averaging an elite 26.4 points per game with the star guard out of action. MPJ is being leaned on for his scoring punch and should continue to fill it up against the Los Angeles Clippers. He has scored 23 or more points in each of his last five contests and should be able to continue the trend given the requisite volume. The total is likely lower than it should be due to the Kawhi threat on defense, but he is questionable for tonight’s contest and may not be able to make the same impact defensively in his first game back after missing five contests with a foot injury. MPJ is a star in this league, it is just disconcerting that it has taken a Murray injury for him to return to bubble form. Tap Michael Porter Jr. for one unit at FanDuel.
