Top NBA Betting Picks for Thursday, April 29

After some stacked slates over the last few days, the NBA will tone it down a notch with just six games scheduled for this evening. High-profile names litter the injury report, from Luka Doncic to Kyrie Irving, so pay close attention to the headlines as tip-off approaches.

Here are the top NBA betting plays for Thursday, April 29, provided by BettingPros experts Raju Byfield, and Isaiah Sirois (Main game odds courtesy BettingPros Consensus; lock and prop odds sites may vary):

Betting Lock of the Day

Sirois: Pistons +9 (-112 at FD Sportsbook)
This game is going to be a mess. We have no idea who the Mavericks will start — Luka Doncic, Josh Richardson, Kristaps Porzingis, JJ Redick, Maxi Kleber, and Dorian Finney-Smith are all questionable. However, we do have a good idea who the Pistons will start — they’ve already listed Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee, and Wayne Ellington as out. Though my model says that Dallas would have a huge edge relative to the spread if all those players suit up, that would dry up if two of them miss time (or just Doncic). Also, the efficiency metrics point to a slight edge on Detroit, as they favor the Mavericks by roughly 4.5 points. The Pistons are 16-11-1 ATS at home, too.

Top Game Prop of the Day

Sirois: Bucks First Half Over 61.5 (-116 at FD Sportsbook)
Milwaukee averages the most points per first half (59.9), and Houston surrenders the fourth-most points per first half (60). Although both figures sit below this total, the Bucks should get out to a hot enough start to nose over this margin. They scored exactly 62 first-half points against the Hornets on Tuesday, and they rank 17th in defensive efficiency. The much worse Rockets rank 24th and have given up 65.3 points per first half over their last three. The Bucks should cash this sky-high total tonight.

Top Player Prop of the Day

Sirois: Zion Williamson Over 7.5 Rebounds (+116 at FD Sportsbook)
Yes, I’m aware that Williamson has totaled only three rebounds over his last two games. However, the Thunder surrender the second-most rebounds to power forwards (11.2), and Williamson averages exactly 7.1 rebounds per game. He’ll need a slightly above-average performance against one of the league’s most exploitable units off the glass, and there is a chance he won’t have to compete with Steven Adams for rebounds, too. This isn’t an absolute lock, but the fact that it’s in the plus money points to solid value.
